USGLC Event
Representative Adam Smith (D – WA 9), an honorary member of The Borgen Project Board of Directors, was a featured speaker at the USGLC (U.S. Global Leadership Council) event held in Seattle. The event focused on the importance of our country’s leadership in international affairs and why it matters from both economic and national security perspectives.

Political Updates
- Advocacy emails sent through our Action Center in April: 4,225 in 2017 vs. 2,682 in 2016. We have emailed 463 Congressional offices since January 1, 2017.
- Lobbying meetings held in April 2017: 20. This brings our meeting total to 93 since January 1, 2017. Well done team!
Congressional Meetings
Team members were very busy at the end of March and during the April recess meeting with their local Congressional staffers and with their Members of Congress.
Romina Gupta, Political Affairs team member, met with 2 out of 3 of her Members of Congress in one month!
