Political Affairs Team member, Rania Chakaki, held a FUNDrive, collecting and reselling old clothes and household items, raising $339!
Here are some great tips from Political Affairs Team member, Hannah May, who raised $950 in her first week with The Borgen Project.
I have been involved in fundraising for many years due to partaking in many extra curricular activities and playing collegiate golf. In college, we would host a week of giving fundraisers where the different athletic teams would compete to raise the most money for your team. Due to being exposed to different methods of fundraising for many years, I have picked up a few tricks.
Primarily, I have kept a list of donors who have supported my endeavors throughout my entire academia and professional development. These individuals are always the first to hear about the new projects and developments I am working on. Secondly, I am very straightforward with my approach. I provide all needed information on the project, ask if they are willing to donate and leave it open for further discussion (mobilizing while fundraising).
Lastly, I am constantly brainstorming new ideas and methods for fundraising. It involves calling lots of businesses to see if they would like to partner and or seeing how I can create a free event that would yield substantial donations. While most ideas or methods are obtainable, it helps highlight then possible options.
